Melito Retrospective
06/06/18-28/06/18, Luynes

The Centre Culterel de Luynes presents a retrospective of the geometric abstract painter Melito.

‘Melito’, (Maurice Miot), was an acclaimed member of post-war avant-garde groups such as "Structure" and "Espace". An abstract geometric painter and engraver during the 1950’s, he exhibited throughout his life in France and abroad, in many salons and galleries.  A friend of Sonia Delaunay and Marcelle Cahn, he was concerned with the symbolism of colours; his brilliant chromatic range is combined with ingeniously balanced geometric lines. Melito said he wanted to express through his art, "the true inner reality": that of the soul, which remains hidden and invisible in everyday life.
